Everything you want to know

Especially for parents of teens — it's completely normal to have questions before reaching out. Here are the ones we hear most often.

Coaching is goal-oriented, present-focused, and non-clinical. It's not therapy — there's no diagnosis, no treatment plan, and no insurance billing. Coaching is about building clarity, skills, and momentum. Therapy addresses clinical mental health conditions. If therapy is what's needed, I'll say so and help you find the right support.
No — coaching is a self-pay service and is not covered by health insurance. This is one of the key differences between coaching and therapy. All rates are transparent and discussed before we begin. Payment plans are available for packages.
Teen sessions are 50 minutes, held virtually or virtual. They're conversational, not clinical — teens often describe it as "talking to someone who actually gets it." I use evidence-based tools but present them in an accessible, non-intimidating way. Parents receive periodic check-ins but session content remains private to build trust with the teen.
All information shared in coaching is kept confidential. There are legal exceptions — including risk of harm to self or others, and suspected child abuse (I am a mandated reporter as an LMSW). Outside of these exceptions, what we discuss stays between us.
It depends on your goals. Some clients see meaningful shifts in 4–6 sessions. Others benefit from ongoing monthly coaching. We'll talk about what makes sense for your situation during the free discovery call — and there's no pressure to commit to anything before you're ready.
Yes — all services are available virtually via a secure video platform. All sessions are held virtually via a secure video platform. Many clients prefer the flexibility of virtual, and research shows virtual coaching is equally effective for most goals.
Resistance is incredibly common — and it usually softens once a teen realizes this isn't therapy and they won't be "fixed." I start by meeting teens exactly where they are, without agenda. Often, the first session is the hardest one to show up for. After that, most teens engage willingly.
Yes — student-athletes, adult athletes, and sports families. Coaching addresses the mental side of performance: anxiety, burnout, identity tied to sport, and the transitions that come when the game changes — an injury, a cut, a college decision, or retirement from sport. We also work with sports parents navigating how to support their athlete without adding to the pressure they're already carrying.
